ABOUT Signe Koefoed (Copenhagen/Berlin) graduated in creative project management from the KaosPilot University in Denmark. After preparatory training at Gaarbo Dans she achieved a graduation in contemporary dance at CDSH - Contemporary Dance School Hamburg and finished a postgraduate programme in contemporary dance by INTO Company. She possess further education in physical theater from New Danish Theater School and practices of Capoeria in both Denmark and Brazil. During her studies she was invited to joined the Hamburg based Tossi Company and performed for them in several productions during a period of two years. Based in Germany, she worked in production for BK Companie, Gauge Dance Theater, DanceKiosk Company, Bremer Ensemble and freelance in projects for Philip Van Huffel, Jessica Boscheit, Steffen Fuchs, Frederike Plafki among others. Since 2009 she contributes as dancer in Hamburg based STC Company. Based in Berlin she also pursue her own work. For the purpose of processing and presentation she opened the off-gallery space Die Kunstapotheke in 2008 together with media artist, Balz Isler and in 2010 co-founded the studio collective DECK3. The focus in her work is experimental and cross-media orientated involving performance, improvisation, film and installation. Essential to the work are individual circumstances and perception of everyday occurrences and it can be fun, poetic, absurd or even uncomftable conditioned to the images of the mind. It like to take off in the artistic practice that allows one to take risks, to search for something personal so as to possibly uncover something shared. The work of Signe Koefoed has been shown at festivals in Denmark, Germany and Schwitzerland.
