Signe Koefoed (Copenhagen/Berlin) graduated, after physical theatre training at New Danish Theatre School and preparatory dance training at Gaarbo Dans, in contemporary dance at CDSH - Contemporary Dance School Hamburg followed by postgraduate studies in contemporary dance at INTO Company. She possesses furthermore a graduation in cultural project management from the KaosPilot University in Denmark.
Based in Germany she worked in production for Tossi Company (2003-06) BK Compagnie, Gauge Dance Theater, DanceKiosk Company, Bremer Ensemble and freelance in projects for Philip Van Huffel, Jessica Boscheit, Steffen Fuchs, Frederike Plafki among others. From 2009-11 she contributed as dancer in Hamburg based STC Company. Since 2012 she is involved in productions for the art- and theatre collective Costa Compagnie led by Felix Meyer-Christian in 2012.
In a symbiotic relation to working as freelancer she pursues her own work in solo and collaboration with other artist. Her focus is experimental and cross-media orientated involving performance, improvisation, film and installation. Main concerns dealt with, are perceptions of social structures affecting daily life with the artistic approach to search for something personal and thereby possibly uncover something shared. The work of Signe Koefoed has been shown at various festival and exhibitons in Denmark, Germany and Switzerland.
For the purpose of processing and presentation she opened the off-gallery space Die Kunstapotheke in 2008 together with media artist, Balz Isler and in 2010 co-founded the studio collective DECK3 in Berlin.
